Daily Scripture & Questions
I Corinthians 7-8 "Now concerning" introduces Paul's responses to a number of issues the Corinthians wrote about to him, in addition to an oral report Chloe's people had brought.  In chapter seven, Paul shows that we must flee sexual immorality, but sexual relations within marriage are right and good.  Another issue is addressed in 7:25. What is it?  What are his instructions regarding marriage during the times of distress (see 7:26)? A third "now concerning" response is presented in I Corinthians 8:1. What were the Corinthians’ questions that Paul answers?  Later (see 10:1-22), Paul urges the Christians not to eat in pagan temples, but here he says that eating food so offered and then sold later is okay if it does not hinder the advancement of the gospel.  First Corinthians 10:23-11:1 will say that it is okay to buy such meat offered in the marketplace as long as we make sure that we are not causing other Christians to stumble.

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read I Corinthians 9:19-27. How did the apostle Paul try to win people to Jesus? How can you build bridges to other people so that you can share the gospel with them? Are you running your race with discipline so that you can win? How so?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 88:1-2 O LORD, God of my salvation; I cry out day and night before you.  Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry!

The Psalmist seems to pray all day long.  Request of the Lord a moment-by-moment sense of His presence and an ability to be in an attitude of prayer all day long.   Ask that your prayers will be continuous, in the sense of how a hacking cough is "all the time."
