Daily Scripture & Questions
Galatians 1-3 Why does Paul defend his appointment as an apostle and his receiving of the Gospel directly from Jesus Christ?  What is the crisis that is taking place in the Galatian churches?  Elsewhere Paul is okay with bearing up with people who have sensitive consciences and who still practice some of the Old Testament ceremonial laws (food, Sabbath, etc.).  Why is he so adamantly opposed to the situation presented here?  Works of the law are more than just the ceremonial law requirements but include a person doing right in order to be justified (declared righteous).  Will anyone be justified before God by keeping the law (see 3:11)?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read
Galatians 2:1-16. Paul met the risen Christ on the road to Damascus and then three years later briefly visited with Peter and James. Then, 14 years later, he went up to Jerusalem again. Who did he bring with him? Was this Gentile believer forced to follow the Old Testament ceremonial laws? Later, Peter visited Paul in Antioch. What was Peter doing that was wrong? Do we ever suggest that salvation is by good works rather than by Jesus alone?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 59:8-10   But you, O LORD, laugh at them; you hold all the nations in derision. O my Strength, I will watch for you, for you, O God, are my fortress.  My God in his steadfast love will meet me; God will let me look in triumph on my enemies.

Come to the King of Kings and ask Him to help us remember that the final victory will certainly be His.  As we face what feels like overwhelming odds, let us trust Him to provide His strength and love and ultimate triumph.
