Daily Scripture & Questions
Acts 15-16 The Jerusalem Council dealt with the question of what ceremonial provisions of the Old Testament the new Gentile believers should follow.  The conclusion presented by James is tied to what realities in the world back then (see 15:21, "For . . .")?  Paul will elsewhere strongly argue against the need to be circumcised.  Why does he have Timothy get circumcised (16:3)?  What did the Lord do for Lydia (16:14)?  How can that guide our prayers for those who don't know Christ yet?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions

Acts 16:25-34. Why did the jailer plan to kill himself? What stopped him? What happened to the jailer and his whole household (his extended family)?

Biblical Prayer Focus
James 1:5-8
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

As we face decisions, both big and small, we need the wisdom of God. Ask Him for wisdom to know what the right thing to do is and then the wisdom to know how to do it. Ask the Lord to help us have faith to trust Him more than we fear our doubts.
