Acts 4:1-6:7 Twice in this passage the apostles are threatened. What is their response; who will they obey? Do their prayers reflect the way that you pray (4:29-30)? Two internal threats are also mentioned in these chapters. What threat would sins like that of Ananias and Sapphira have brought into the church? What would have been the danger of the complaint that was brought up regarding not dealing well with all the widows’ needs? How were these threats addressed?

Read Acts 5:1-11. Were the people required to sell everything and give it all to the apostles? What did Ananias and Sapphira do that was so bad? Do you ever want to appear godlier than you really are? That is, be like a spiritual show-off? Is there any pretending of which you need to repent?

Psalm 130: If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.
Give praise to God for His forgiveness. And express your confidence in Him as you wait for the answers to your prayers. Look for the answers with anticipation.
