Daily Scripture & Questions
John 13-14 We begin reading what has been called the farewell or upper room discourse.  Note how Jesus carefully words His statements in light of Judas' soon betrayal.  What promises given in chapter 14 bring us a deep sense of peace? Jesus is preparing a dwelling for us now (14:13) even as He dwells with us by His Spirit (14:23).  Rejoice that Jesus does not leave His followers alone like orphans.

Family Devotions-Scripture & Questions
Read John 13:1-20. What did Jesus do during supper? Why do you think Peter resisted having his feet washed? How is the way Jesus compared foot washing to a bath a picture of what Christ followers need to do to stay clean? Are there any places in your life where you won't take the role of a servant and wash feet?

Biblical Prayer Focus

I Thessalonians 1:2-5a We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.

Give thanks to God for fellow believers whose faith is clearly being "worked out" into their lives in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Ask for His help for those for whom this is not fully true.
