Daily Scripture & Questions
Matthew 25-26 How would you summarize the main points of the three parables in Matthew 25?  Note that in the parable of the sheep and the goats, it is what we do or don't do for "the least of these my brothers."  How we treat other Christians is a critical mark as to whether we are saved or not.  In chapter 26, note how Judas addresses Jesus compared to the way the other disciples do.  In Matthew 26:50, Jesus calls Judas "friend" but this is not the usual word for friend, rather it is just someone who is taking advantage of a privileged relationship.  Are you a real friend or are you a make-believe friend of Jesus?

Family Devotions-Scripture & Questions

Read Matthew 26:30-35, 60-75. What did Peter promise Jesus? Why did Peter end up weeping bitterly? After receiving the Holy Spirit (later, as recorded in the book of Acts), Peter is fearless in the face of opposition. Ask the Holy Spirit to make you bold today. Remember, without the Spirit all the brave claims that we make will amount to nothing. Ask the Holy Spirit to make you bold today.

Biblical Prayer Focus

Psalm 74:18-23 Remember this, O LORD, how the enemy scoffs, and a foolish people reviles your name.  Do not deliver the soul of your dove to the wild beasts; do not forget the life of your poor forever.  Have regard for the covenant, for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence. Let not the downtrodden turn back in shame; let the poor and needy praise your name.  Arise, O God, defend your cause; remember how the foolish scoff at you all the day!  Do not forget the clamor of your foes, the uproar of those who rise against you, which goes up continually!

Be honest with God about the hard things in your life.  Ask Him to arise and defend your cause. Seek His Spirit's help for you know that, for those who are in Christ, there is nothing that can separate us from Jesus' love.
