Daily Scripture & Questions
Matthew 22; Mark 12 How are the parables of the wedding feast and the parables of the tenants similar?  How does Jesus' answer about taxes ("render to Caesar. . .") teach us that we need to obey civil government?  Up to what point does that obedience go?  Many people tried to trap Jesus with questions.  How does Jesus' answer regarding marriage after the resurrection show that Jesus was not afraid to confront wrong teaching and faulty assumptions?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Mark 12:28-34 and Matthew 22:34-40. What are the two summary commandments on which the Old Testament depends?  Remember, "Law and Prophets" is what the Hebrew Scriptures were often called—what we call the Old Testament. In the Mark account, why does Jesus say the man is not far from the kingdom of God?  Have you gotten to the heart of a relationship with God or are you still just trying to "keep the rules"?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 80:1-3 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock.  You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.  Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might and come to save us!  Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved!

Especially on behalf of the persecuted church, pray for God's intervention for His people's sake.  Ask Him to stir up His might and save His people.  Pray for the soon return of Jesus.
