Daily Scripture & Questions
Acts 6:8-8:40 Today we read of the accounts of two of the deacons, Stephen and Philip.  Contrast the way that Stephen is described in this passage with the way he describes those he confronts at the end of his message.  The persecution pushes the early church out into Judea and Samaria with the gospel.  Philip ministers among the half-breeds of the Samaritans, who were despised by the Jews.  Why do you think God waited to have the Samaritan Christians receive the Holy Spirit until Peter and John came?  Contrast Simon the Magician with the Ethiopian eunuch.  Both heard and were baptized, but their longer-term responses were very different.

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Acts 8:26-40. Who was directing the ministry of Philip? How did he help the Ethiopian eunuch? How did this treasurer express his new faith in Jesus to whom the Scriptures he was reading pointed?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 85:4-7
Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us!  Will you be angry with us forever?  Will you prolong your anger to all generations?  Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?  Show us your steadfast love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.

Pray for yourself or others who have been disciplined by the Lord. Ask that lessons would be learned and that joy might now be revived within.
