Daily Scripture & Questions
Jeremiah 23-25 After describing the disasters of the final monarchies before the fall of Jerusalem (Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin), suddenly Jeremiah gives a message of hope.  What is that hope (23:3-8)?  How long would the people of God be held in captivity (25:11)? How is God's punishment described in these chapters?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Jeremiah 23:23-40. Why is the Lord upset with the false prophets who say, "I have dreamed. I have dreamed!"? Why is he upset that they say, "What is the burden of the Lord?" How is God's Word described in verse 29? Are you tempted to pay too much attention to other things than God's Word for deciding what is right and wrong?

Biblical Prayer Focus
1 Timothy 2:1-4 "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

Pray for those in authority over us. Ask for the opportunity to live peaceful and quiet lives that reflect in every way that we walk with God. Beseech God that our lives might be part of a convincing testimony to a cynical world.
