Daily Scripture & Questions
Acts 4:1-6:7 Twice in this passage the apostles are threatened.  What is their response; who will they obey?  Do their prayers reflect the way that you pray (4:29-30)?  Two internal threats are also mentioned in these chapters.  What threat would sins like that of Ananias and Sapphira have brought into the church?  What would have been the danger of the complaint that was brought up regarding not dealing well with all the widows’ needs?  How were these threats addressed?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Acts 5:1-11. Were the people required to sell everything and give it all to the apostles? What did Ananias and Sapphira do that was so bad? Do you ever want to appear godlier than you really are? That is, be like a spiritual show-off? Is there any pretending of which you need to repent?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Jonah 4:8b-11 And (Jonah) asked that he might die and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.” But God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.” And the LORD said, “You pity the plant, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came into being in a night and perished in a night. And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?”

Don't be like Jonah, who understood the character of God but just did not want Him to be gracious to his enemies.  Ask the Lord to give you a heart for those who don't know Him and who will spend an eternity apart from Him if they to not turn to Him.
