Daily Scripture & Questions
Lamentations 3:40-5:22 What are the people challenged to do in chapter three, verses 40-41?  Chapter four grieves the situation but also tells us a sense of the why behind it (4:11-13).  It also tells us that the punishment would not continue forever but at some point, would be accomplished (4:22).  Chapter five is a community lament, grieving over the losses, but this time it ends with an admission of sin (5:16) and a plea to God (5:19-22).  In our suffering, we often rail against God causing us harm but forget our own sins - is there any of that sort of thing happening in your life right now?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions

Read Lamentations 5:12-22. What made the people's hearts sick? Why have all of these terrible things fallen upon them? What is their prayer in verse 21? Why don't we have the strength to restore ourselves to a relationship with God?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Luke 11:9-10 "And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."

Pray that the Lord will help you, and those you are praying for, be honest with your heart's desires. Earnestly ask, seek, and knock . . . all the while allowing God to be the ultimate Decider of what is best.
