Daily Scripture & Questions
Jeremiah 38-40; Psalm 74 and 79 Zedekiah says he wants to hear from God, but he really isn't going to do it unless it makes sense to him . . . what happens?  God protects Jeremiah after the fall, and he chooses to live with the appointed governor, Gedaliah. Psalm 74 is a cry of anguish, perhaps over the Babylonian destruction.  In what truth does the psalmist here find hope?  Psalm 79 is similar - why do verses 8 and 9 give the first steps toward any future hope?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Jeremiah 38:14-23 and 39:1-8. Zedekiah said he wanted a word from God, but he did not heed the truth. Who paid for his disobedience? Do we ever say that we want to know God's will, not in order to do it but in order to know what it might be, to see if we agree?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 10:16-18
"The LORD is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more."

Worship the Lord who is King forever. Magnify Him for being a God who hears, strengthens, inclines His ear to do justice to even the weakest and most vulnerable in society. Entrust to Him those you know to be vulnerable right now.
