Daily Scripture & Questions
Jeremiah 18-22 The people push back against Jeremiah and his words (18:18), even though he only spoke the truth and even prayed for them (18:19-20).  Pashhur puts Jeremiah in stocks and perhaps Jeremiah considers quitting.  What happens when he didn't speak up (20:9)?  Chapters 21-23 describe the end, just before the fall of Judah to Babylon. How bad will it be?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Jeremiah 18:1-12. What is the point of the potter and clay illustration? What do the people say is vain to do (v 12)? What do they do instead?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 13:1-4
"How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever?  How long will you hide your face from me?  How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?  Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, lest my enemy say, 'I have prevailed over him,' lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken."

When we are not suffering, a text like this seems strange. But when it feels like you have been traveling through a dark night of the soul for an extended time, then it seems natural to cry out like this. Be honest with the Lord about your feelings and remember that He will not delay in answering you at just the right time.
