Daily Scripture & Questions
II Samuel 1-4  What do we learn about David's heart from the way he mourned over the deaths of Saul and Jonathan and later over Abner and Saul's son, Ish-bosheth?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read II Samuel 1:1-16. Saul was David's enemy. Why then did David grieve over his death? Why did he have the Amalekite, who killed Saul, put to death? Are you tempted to be happy over the fall of someone who has been mean to you? What would God rather that you do?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 73:23-25
"Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.  You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.  Whom have I in heaven but you?  And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you."

Give praise for God's continual presence with His people.  He has promised to comfort, guide and protect through the indwelling Holy Spirit.  Ask Him to fulfill His promises and to help you run your race today, looking to the finish line of spending eternity with Him in heaven.
