POWERHOUSE STUDENT MINISTRIES
CLUB - Sunday Evenings, 6:00 - 8:00pm, OUTBACK & Ministry Center
Club Ministries is designed to bring students together from numerous school districts during the school year, as an on-ramp to connect, participate and discover genuine Christian community, while investigating and encountering Biblical truths in pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ.
Club has several elements including student-led worship, mini-talk, recreation, huddles (divided by age & gender to discuss the talk, catch-up on life, connect with others, pray), food, hang-time (foosball, ping-pong, billiards, basketball, floor hockey, etc.), and year-long mini-events (dodgeball tournament, bake-off, chili cook-off, etc.).
Club is the front-door ministry of POWERHOUSE during the school year and is specifically designed for students who know Christ to invite their friends who don't know and are investigating the truths of Christ. Club is not bashful in its mission to expose students to Christ, as evidenced during the worship, mini-talks and through student interaction. However, we're careful not to lose the primary focus of creating a fun night or what we might describe as "the best night of the week" experience, meant to encourage student participation and involvement. The mini-talks are topical and relevant in nature as they wrap around a yearly theme.
The leaders who serve at Club know that their role is to encourage student connection with other students, as well as helping students connect with the bigger picture of POWERHOUSE. The leaders are a mix of university students, parents and adults ranging in age from 19 - 65.
VERTICAL - Sunday, 10:45am - 12:15pm, OUTBACK & Ministry Center
Vertical is the discipleship arm of POWERHOUSE and is designed to support and help parents and students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His Word. Ultimately Vertical's mission is to advance and equip parents and students toward spiritual health. This is discovered through relevant and consistent times of worship, prayer and the study of Scripture, as well as in preparing parents and students to lead by example, to mentor or disciple others, and to grow in confidence of sharing one's faith story in Jesus Christ.
Teaching progresses through a seven year curriculum cycle that was created by parents and students, including but not all inclusive: Overviews of the Old & New Testaments, Acts & the Early Church, Character Studies, Genesis, John, Romans, Philippians, Creation, Prayer & Bible Study Methods, Apologetics, Leadership (Timothy & Titus), World View, and Theology.
Vertical Ministry meets September - May, offering approximately 24 - 26 weeks of discipleship, and is divided by grade and gender at the middle school level, and by grade at the high school level.
