Using his proven leadership gifts, skills, and calling, the pastor will not so much “do the ministry” as “equip the saints” to do the ministry. He will recruit, equip, deploy, and support multiplying leaders and teams to the end of leading the fellowship to be an active and committed participant-oriented kitchen family table church rather than a spectator-pleasing restaurant menu of programs. His ability to lead individuals and teams will not be because of expertise by training or experience in specific ministry areas, but because of his strong leadership capabilities that can lead almost any team well. He will be able to teach but that will not be his primary gifting or key motivator in ministry (if Gary deBock is 3:1 teaching to leading, then this person will be 3:1 leading to teaching). |
