Trinity Fellowship's Mission Statement
To have an integrated ministry to win and to grow disciples who will show allegiance to Jesus Christ.
This allegiance will be maintained daily in a prayer and worship lifestyle. This allegiance will manifest itself in the disciple's relationships, stewardship, ministry to believers and outreach to unbelievers.
This ministry will be based on the model of the church as a body and will manifest that model by focusing on people in biblical unity. Each person's contribution, based on his/her gifts, will be considered vital and a personal ministry for each person will be considered normative. The ministry will be integrated because all aspects of the ministry will be directed toward making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Healthy Christian
Jesus reinforced God's plan for our lives when he taught his disciples what is known as the greatest commandment in Mark 12:30:
"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength"
Following Christ is a journey that encompasses our entire being and demands the commitment of our talents, gifts, and resources. Living as a Christian is not something that we "do," rather it is the essence of who we are as the people of God. Living as a Christian is something that takes our entire selves, so therefore we cannot emphasize one aspect of the Christian life to the neglect of others. The concept of a "Healthy Christian" reminds us how to love God with all of our being, and it reinforces the basic elements of Christian living. These six elements are the core values of Trinity Fellowship.
The Word
The foundation of the Christian life is the Word of God. Opinions, philosophies and trends in culture change constantly, but the foundation of the Bible is what gives Christians sure footing for life. The Bible gives us knowledge of salvation in Jesus Christ, provides plain guidance for daily life, and serves as our foundation of truth.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work."
Worship
One leg of the Christian life is a lifestyle of worship. When we worship corporately or as a group we celebrate God for who he is, giving him praise and honor for his attributes. A worship service is not confined to songs and music, but it is the gathering of God's people to celebrate the mighty acts of God through song, prayer, teaching, and testimonies. Worship is also important in the personal realm, when we seek the Lord in prayer individually.
Psalm 145: 1,3 "I will extol you, my God and king, and bless your name forever and ever. . . . Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable."
Warmth
Another leg of the Christian life is warmth: establishing relationships with other Christians. God did not intend for us to walk through life alone, but he gives us brothers and sisters in Christ who will walk beside us. In the context of these close relationships we can share our joys and struggles. God calls us to pray for one another, confess our sins to one another, admonish one another, and build one another up through kind words.
Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is th habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
Witness
One arm of the Healthy Christian is the arm of witness. Through witness we reach out to those wo do not yet know Christ, sharing our own personal stories and offering them the good news of Christ (evangelism). Missions is a vital part of a healthy church, but missionaries should not be the only people doing evangelism. It is every Christian's responsibility to share the gospel with those who are seeking. Tools such as "God's Work, Our Choice" (also known as "8 Simple Drawings") can be used to help you learn how to share the gospel.
Colossians 4:5-6 "Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."
Works of Service
With the other arm we reach out to believers, serving them with our gifts and talents. Each Christian has been given at least one spiritual gift for the purpose of equipping and building up the body of Christ. Growing as a Christian occurs not only in the context of learning where we receive teaching or instruction, but also by serving others and placing ourselves in a position where God can use each of us to build up other believers.
Ephesians 4:15-16 "Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love."
Wisdom
When we become Christians, our minds are transformed by the Holy Spirit so that we see life with a different set of values, priorities and standards. As followers of Jesus, we seek to submit every decision of our lives to his teaching. We seek to act in obedience to Christ because he is our Lord, and we are stewards of the time and resources he has entrusted to us. Living a life of wisdom mean making decisions based on Christ's leadership and a vision of his kingdom.
Matthew 25:21 "His Master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' "
