Children's Ministry

The Basics of KidConnect

KidConnect is the Sunday Morning children's ministry of Trinity with a vision to be the best hour of every kid's week. With that vision in mind, the hour is broken down into four strategic segments that take place every week:
Activity Stations
(15-20 minutes)

When kids arrive, they are greeted and invited to join in a variety of Activity Stations. The activities are not random; they are carefully selected to fit a wide variety of personality types and learning styles. Small group leaders use this time to informally connect with kids.
Plug In
(5-10 minutes)

After Activity Stations, the children meet with their small group leader for about five to ten minutes. This time is invested in catching up on the last week (kids can share fast and brief!) and building anticipation for the day's lesson.
Power up or Wired Time
(30 minutes)

Following Kid Connection, small groups then move together into the Large Group Program, where great creativity is unleashed. Music, drama, puppets, video, and other creative teaching methods all work together to set up a topic, present the Bible teaching, and begin the discovery of life application.
Catch On
(30 minutes)

For the remaining time in KidConnect, each small group huddles together to discuss the concepts learned during Large Group and how to specifically apply this learning to real life as kids. A variety of creative games, conversation tools, and prayer are employed to reinforce the relevancy of the Bible teaching. This is also the key time for intentional shepherding from the leader, as well as for relationship building.
Ministry in Team
Critical to the success of any children's ministry is the team doing the ministry. When relationships form on a ministry team, when responsibilities are shared, and when successes are celebrated together; the best hour happens for big people, too. Everyone in ministry - volunteers or paid staff - should serve in an area of responsibility aligned with their specific spiritual giftedness. Placing people according to how they are gifted will make ministry a joy-filled challenge rather than a joy-less chore.
