Daily Scripture & Questions
II Corinthians 7:2-9:15 Paul, now again, asks that the church make room in their hearts for him, expressing his deep love and confidence in them as a whole (though some still opposed Paul).  Paul's stern letter did what Paul hoped, which was what (7:9-11)?  How did the way they received Titus underline their repentance?  In chapters eight and nine, Paul calls the repentant church to complete the collection for the poor in Jerusalem.  They had begun this earlier (see Romans 15:25-32, I Corinthians 16:1-4, Galatians 2:9-10).  How is Jesus the true motivation for generosity (8:9)?  The management of the money that was being sent had to be completely above board for what reasons (8:21)?  Why does God love a cheerful giver (9:6 ff)?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read
II Corinthians 9:6-15. What are the lessons that we can learn from Paul's instructions for this special offering? Do these words describe how you honor God with your resources—sowing bountifully, cheerfully, generously? Whose inexpressible gift is the ultimate motivation for our generosity?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 86:11-13  Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.  I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.  For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

Living with a divided heart is a terrible thing.  Ask the Lord to give you a united heart  and a whole heart and the ability to glorify His name through your choices today.   Ask this for those you pray for as well.
