Daily Scripture & Questions
Matthew 11 and 13 Who was John the Baptist?  Why would Jesus say to him, "Blessed is the one who is not offended by me"?  Have you ever been "offended" by Jesus because things didn't turn out as you expected?  In chapter 13, to what is the Kingdom of Heaven (God) compared?  What are similar themes between the parable of the weeds and the parable of the net?  What is similar between the parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl of great value?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions

Read Matthew 11:1-6 and 14:1-12. Why was John the Baptist in prison? What would soon happen to him? John had been a faithful forerunner of the Messiah, Jesus. If you had been him, would you have been "offended" that God let you go to prison and then face death for doing right? Are you "offended" by Jesus in any way right now? If so, ask Him to help you have faith to trust Him that He will make all things right in the end.

Biblical Prayer Focus
James 5:16-18
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

Ask the Lord to help you get over thinking that the Christian life is lived merely as individuals.  Your prayers are powerful. And so are the prayers of others for you. Pray fervently as the Spirit has led you to do.
